As the end of her term as the president of the Cuban-American Bar Association (CABA) nears, Giselle Gutierrez has established new initiatives and traditions when she passes the torch to the next president at the end of this year.
During her appointment, Ms. Gutierrez has created the Lead with CABA program for future leaders, brought back the CABA on Cuba conference and has been at the forefront of many Cuban-based legal proceedings in South Florida.
A shareholder in Stearns Weaver Miller’s labor and employment and litigation departments in Miami, she has over 10 years serving the Cuban-American community at large through CABA.
In 2022, Ms. Gutierrez served as president of CABA’s pro bono legal services board, which provides representation that changes the lives of children and individuals who cannot afford legal advocacy with programs for veterans, human trafficking victims and unaccompanied minors.
From 2018 to 2023, she also served as a governor on the Florida Bar’s Young Lawyer Division Board of Governors, earning the “2022 Most Productive Board Member” award.
“I’m a true believer that things will come in and out of your life on purpose,” she said. “If something is happening in your life, even though you don’t immediately understand, it is for your benefit.”
Ms. Guiterrez spoke with Miami Today Reporter Abraham Galvan.
