Negative Comments Online Didn’t Break Blue Ivy’s Soul!

When Beyoncé‘s daughter Blue Ivy read negative comments online about her early performances in the Renaissance Tour, she decided to turn that criticism into motivation to work harder. And fans noticed!

In Beyoncé’s new concert film, she revealed that her 11-year-old daughter was affected by the online criticism of her dancing, and instead of giving up, she used the negative words to empower her to work harder.

Blue made her first appearance during her mom’s tour in May in Paris. The preteen happily joined her mom, 42, on stage alongside backup dancers as Beyoncé sang “My Power.”

Blue continued to make appearances at future stops on the tour, but that’s not what her mom originally had intended. “She told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no,” per The New York Times.

Beyoncé reveals in “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” that the original idea was to have Blue make only one onstage appearance, stating that performing in front of thousands of people was no place for an 11-year-old.

Fans Noticed Blue Ivy’s Performance Improved Along The Way

Social media fans took notice of how much Blue’s performance improved from the first time she danced onstage alongside her famous mom. A TikTok account dedicated to Beyoncé shared a video in September that shows Blue’s progression from the first performance to a more recent one. The video received nearly 12 million views and thousands of positive comments.

“Wow she’s gotten so good! That’s a lot of confidence for someone so young, go Blue Ivy,” one person wrote in the comments. Another added, “Seeing her confidence grow throughout this tour has been such a treat.”

One fan noted the change from the first performance to a later one.

“Us watching the first performance: awwww how cute! watching the recent performance: YASSSSS BLUE! So nice of you to let Beyonce be your opening act,” the viewer wrote.

Another fan shared, “Watching her blossom into a powerhouse performer has unironically been one of my favorite things about this year. ???”

Tina Knowles-Lawson Shared How Proud She Is Of Her Granddaughter

Proud grandma Tina Knowles-Lawson gushed about her granddaughter dancing in her mom’s Renaissance Tour. She told PEOPLE in July that she “couldn’t be more proud of her.”

“Well, this is a heels family. You’re trained early to walk in heels,” she said. “But yeah, she’s having the time of her life, and I couldn’t be more proud of her because she really worked hard.”

The fashion designer also noted that the dancer on the tour have been dancing since they were children, so for Blue to get on that stage and hold her own at just 11 is a huge accomplishment.

“She is 11 years old, and she had one week to prepare, and she’s just getting better and better,” she said. “So I’m the proud grandma, always.”

“Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” hits theaters on Dec. 1.
